Yang Family Tai Chi

Aaran Church Auckland New Zealand - Tai Chi practice Qi Gong

Tai Chi (Taiji) is an ancient Chinese martial art that relies on calmness of the mind and balanced and relaxed posture.

This exercise works on the whole body naturally in a low impact way that improves your flexibility, wellbeing and co-ordination while also reducing stress and tension.

A body in optimum condition is less likely to get injured.

Help your body work the way it was designed to work.

The ancient arts of Tai Chi and Qi Gong present a unique set of tools with which we can return our bodies to a healthy balance and maintain a superior quality of life as we age.

The deep rhythmic breathing, slow deliberate movements and body-mind focus of these arts help us to improve balance and circulation, reduce falls, increase flexibility, loosen and lubricate joints, improve concentration and reduce stress.

For centuries, the Chinese have known and understood the benefits these practices provide.  We now have the opportunity to incorporate them into our own lives.

The benefits of Tai Chi are:

  • Improved balance
  • Improved posture
  • Greater strength and flexibility
  • Better mental awareness
  • More energy
  • Better blood circulation
  • Deeper breathing
  • Better concentration
  • Inner tranquility
  • Better health and wellbeing

My own journey began over 25 years ago, I was only 21 at the time, I'd been recommended to learn Tai Chi by an osteopath (I'd never heard of Tai Chi, this was back in 1989, I also realized the 2 words were Chinese, but I had no idea what the translation of Tai Chi into English was) I'd been experiencing constant lower back pain for over 8 years due to a traumatic injury and I had had enough of it.

I was READY to pay attention to the advise I was hearing. I only had 3 appointments with this man, went to my first Tai Chi class and have never looked back since that time. I had to think about the fact that I was going to be older for a lot longer than I was younger, I had to give up playing some sports that I loved, as I knew if I continued to do what I was doing I should expect the same results, nothing changes until I do, and after all I was fed up with being in constant pain.

I was told "well I can assist, alleviate, reduce, manage your pain but it is you who will heal it, that is what your body knows". That really caught my attention. I had expected him to solve my complaint, however as it turned out I was listening to someone telling me that it was my body  that would solve this issue. Anything he was able to do would simply be management. I paid very close attention to that and made up my mind he was correct.

26 years later and I have come such a long way, I've not had back pain now for 24 years. Yep it took 2 years of daily practice but sure as anything I'd have to say that was the best advise I was ever given as a young guy. I've since gone on to well ! my website will allow you some insights.

I teach Authentic Yang family 85 forms, 28 forms, 13 forms, Tai Chi sword and saber, Tai Chi push hands. I also hold a New Zealand National Diploma in Tui Na / Qi Gong through the New Zealand School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I only teach privately, as i prefer to deliver quality rather than quantity, when it comes to Tai Chi it really is the Grand Ultimate. (literal translation)

Any expressions of interest welcome.

Claustrophobia fear of enclosed spaces

I came to see Aaran as I had a fear of closed in spaces, My usual tactic was to avoid being in any kind of small room, lift, etc.  I made a decision that I had had enough of this after so many years it was becoming a major problem,
